another line-in question

i have a dimension E521 with  XP sp2. i'm trying to record cassettes to hard drive but i'm not sure which is the in-line jack. i can only figure out what the speaker and mic jacks are. would appreciate  any help. thanks

The Line In connector is the 'Blue' connector.  All the connections are shown in the users manual.  You should have a copy pre-loaded on the PC and it can be accessed on line.    You will also need a 'recording program' to record to the hard drive first and then create the audio CD's.  do a search for Audacity, it is a free and very good recording program.  If you want full fidelity, save the song files as 'wav' files, not MP3.

Hi, I have a Dimensions E310. It runs the Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system. I would like to know if there's a way to play a CD on a portable CD player through my machine. I've tried to send the output from the CD player into the blue input jack on the back of the hard drive machine but there was no sign that the signal was detected by the computer. Is something wrong? Do I have any options? I'm asking because some CDs containing popular music jump off of the tray of the CD player that is part of the computer during CD start-up. If the start-up goes without incident then the disks play fine. MWD
