Ati CrossFireX Setup
The latest Ati Catalyst driver will now enable CrossFire on Dell PCs. So, you may remove our older driver and use the latest Ati driver.
* Download the latest Ati Catalyst driver from Ati for your video card onto your desktop
* Click on Start- Control Panel- Programs and Features
* At the top of the list you should see several ATI entries. Select the entry entitled ATI Software Uninstall Utility, and click Change/Remove
* You will be prompted to restart your system once the uninstall is complete
* Cancel any New Hardware messages
* Check the Programs and Features list again for any remaining ATI software. Remove any that you see
* Install the latest Ati Catalyst driver for your video card. When done, the PC will want to restart
* Right-click an empty space on the desktop and then select ATI Catalyst Control Center
* In the ATI Catalyst Control Center Basic window, select Advanced and then click Next
* In the Graphics Settings, select CrossFire
* Check the Enable CrossFire checkbox
* Click Apply and then close the ATI Catalyst Control Center

LOLOLOLOL, I just read this after posting back to you in your post about the different cards Schfandy.....and this is just another example of what I was saying about sloppy performance/bugs in these kinds of setups....good luck with your issue....HTChris, sorry but on this subject, either you are only talking about brand new pc' ie anything newer than a 720. OR you are reading a bed time story from mothercare.
Because dell boards up to and incluing the 720 do NOT support normal CF or dual ati cards in CF mode. The only exeption to this is the X1950XTX range that conect via an external cable. However Dells x1950xtx (dell bios) will not work with ati drivers, Dell drivers must be installed first.
Finally.. I have told you personaly about the problems with the ATI support from dell for 18 months,, please read back on my posts..
Single cards work. Crossfire does not.. (only sure about this fact on the 700,710,720 xps range). But from what i know,, CF requires a CF enabled m/b and normaly there cf or sli, not both.
However i will test Chris's theory on my old 720,, as i have 2x ati 4870x2 that i can use to test.. Ho and a clean drive to install XP on.. :)
