Ati Radeon & AMD Catalyst Mobility

Hi there,

I am using Dell OptiPlex 9010 with intel i7, Windows 8 Pro x64 and it have two graphic cards:

Ati Radeon HD 5400 series version 9.2.0.0

and INTEL(R) HD Graphics

The problem is that I need to switch between AMD and Intel Graphics, but I cant because I cant install AMD Catalyst.

I am facing problems some programs does not work because Radeon does not support them, so I need to switch those programs to use Intel Graphics.

So I went to AMD and tried to install AMD Catalyst , but this error message shows:

Please help me to install AMD Catalyst Mobility.

Thank you

I have edited my discussion because Dell instantly showed great care and great support , and I am sorry for any inconvenience that I might have caused.

Hi Donalddavid,

Please go to add/remove programs and uninstall the current driver, then install this one from Dell. This package includes the CCC as far as I know.

Thank you for replying on such short notice,

Should I uninstall my AMD radeon drivers from the Device Manager/ Display Adapters

Furthermore, I have noticed that the Driver that you provided shows compatibility for MS Windows 7 32/64 and is for AMD Radeon HD7470/7570/6450, while I am using MS Windows 8 64 and Ati Radeon HD 5400.

Will it support my computer? Should I proceed with this installation?

Once again, I really appreciate your  support

Now just to be clear, should I install the dell driver which is compatible with WIN 7 32/64 , or the catalyst directly from the AMD official site.

Please note that I have Windows 8 64bit.

I have concerns that the dell driver wont work on my win8 , and I have concerns that the official AMD catalyst software will cause trouble to my computer.

Now what is the Final decision? which should I choose for my windows 8 64

My recommendation would be to use the Dell driver.

Optiplex Desktops are not laptops.  They don't provide "switchable graphics" via Nvidia graphics with Optimus NOR do they do they support "ATI Mobility Radeon™ switchable graphics"

More Likely you will Get "Unsupported Video configuration" messages on the onboard VGA when you put a card in the X16 slots.
