ati x850xt

i just bought ati/visiontek xtasy x850xt 
pop it in started playing playing half life 2 and started to get lag in the game
what would cause the is it the card settings are somthing else this is whatt im running
 
dell dimension 4700
petium 4 2.80 w/ht
1gig of ram
i also upgraded the power supply got the neo antec480
 
could sombody please help me with this !!!!!

Depending on settings in the game you might need to lower the details alittle.

Also goto www.ati.com and get the latest drivers.

I RECOMMEND SETTING V-SYNC TO ON...TRY IT AND LET ME KNOW.

Put VSync OFF. If you have LCD screen set refresh rate to 60Hz, if you have CRT 75-85 depending of side. If 60Hz works for ya go for it. Set AA to 4x and AF 8x, and everything to highest quality. Sometimes when the card can push a lot of frames you may experience lag, because frames are jumpy 80-120-75. When you set everything to max, the highest frame is lower and closer to the lowest frame, so it would be like 75-80-68 and everything runs smooth...

hey boranes, did you try the V-sync yet?  You can access it by right clicking desktop, settings, etc.  I'm sure you can figure it out.  Please let us know which one works better, V-sync off or on.  My bet is on 'on', especially if you have LCD,

thanks for the help!! i tried vsync off and on,and tried the settings that you provided
 
but unfortunately still no luck!! still getting low fram rates like the low 30's in the bigger levels,but no preambles ruining doom3!    Could it  the CPU? Are system settings. Thanks for the help with this..its really aggravating i thought a high end card wouldnt do this!!!!!!!!

Ok goto www.ati.com and download and install the newest driver.
 
Make sure you unistall the old one first from the control panel, add remove programs before you install the new one.
