ATX Compatibility?

Hello everyone. I own an XPS Gen 4 computer, in which I recently swapped out the PSU To a XPS gen 5's 650W PSU. Now, I want to upgrade the motherboard to go with my Nvidia XTX 8800 768 MB DDR3 video card. My question is: is the XPS chassis compatible with the popular motherboards out there? Right now I'm looking at a EVGA 680i motherboard with a E6600 Core Duo processor, and wondering if it'll fit in my case. Thanks for the info!

What, exactly, is it that makes it incompatible? Any screws or mounts that I need to add/remove? I'm up for modding the case a little. It's outta warranty anyway.

You have the size alone that is a determining factor, I don't think all the PCI ports would line up correctly with the back of the machine...  and I'm willing to bet that the power/reset button, usb connections, headphone/mic jack, activity leds and the PSU power connection are all propietay ports.

If you're willing to get a new mobo, CPU and video card, then you've paid for the most expensive stuff already. Might as well finish out the computer with a case, some RAM and a decent PSU.

I use an Antec P180 Black case and it's cool and quiet. Really nice.

Its not that it wouldn't mount in your case it's the power on connector is proprietory for Dell motherboards. You would have to try to decifer what wire is for what on your new motherboard and try rigging it up somehow which is really way to much hassle. I wouldn't cut the wires on my case to try to fit another motherboard in it.
