My Dimension 4600 windowsxp audio will not work until I uninstall the SoundMax drivers and reinstall them. I have to do this routine after every boot up. How do I correct this?
How do you uninstall and reinstall them? Do you use the cd? Try this if it hasn't been tried before. Right click on the sound max in the device manager and uninstall it. Restart the computer and windows will automatically search for and install the drivers. The cd is not required for this. If this doesn't work, reboot the computer and on the dell logo screen, keep tapping the F2 key to enter the setup. Turn on the caps lock, num lock and the scroll lock keys. Press the alt+E keys together. You will get a beep. Press escape and enter to save changes and exit.

Thanks,
Tried both ways uninstalling, and reinstalling, but the problem still persists. Any other ideas would be welcome
