Audio problem with E1705
Can anybody help me with my audio problem? For some reason my audio has corrupted for some reason. I no longer have a speaker icon to adjust my volume or mute it. Under sounds, speech and audio, no audio devices are detected. When I run winamp an error message "A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system". Under device manager, no error messages noted. Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Decives, Media control Devices, SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC and Video Codecs show no problems and are working properly. With windows media player I get "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." Without opening XP and using Media Direct, I can get sound and music with no problem. Diagnostic test confirm no problems. So I figure I have a software problem. I am not sure which driver to install. I have installed programs from Dell audio support but that did not help. I updated my windows but still nothing. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix.
