Best ATi overclocking programs

Question

So many programs to overclock,I'm starting to get confused. I've been looking AtiTool,but uninstalled them because the 3dview made my card go over 75 ºC. Now I'm installing Omega drivers which also include an overclocking utility,but don't know it's possibilities (and you?). Also been thinking of Ati Tray Tools,as they also include an artifact scan,max core and max ram speeds,but don't know if it will also make my card go too hot. Any suggestion on which program to use? And a thing I've been asking for a while...what happens if I do not complete well the installation of omega drivers making a clean installation?? Thanks a lot for the help guys!

I don't think 75C is too bad for the X800 XT. I've used ATITool before to see how hot my card would get and the highest I ever saw was right around what you're getting. It's been a while so I don't know the exact temperature. When I last checked the card would run around 62C or so while playing games but that was a number of weeks ago before the temperature outside dropped down a bit. I would imagine it's a few degrees cooler now.

I know you're having troubles with your card and Dell there in Spain from some of your other posts, but have you installed a third-party PCI card fan near the graphics card? I have one I got from my local CompUSA for about $10 and while I don't know how much it helps, every little bit does help.

Its not uncommon for X800 Series boards to reach 70-80c range. In fact this was a common occurence for user's who did the X800Pro to XTPE softmod. The remaining 4 pipes generated the extra heat, even at stock Pro speeds.

An advantage you would have using ATi Tool is the Fan Override function which always you to manually set speed vs. temp scale settings to your preference.

ATi Silencer 4 is also another good cooling solution.

Idle/Load Before ATi Silencer 4: 39/75c

Idle/Load AFTER ATi Silencer 4: 32/53c

Given your situation, the VGA Silencer may not be the best solution. Installation is not hard, but one mistake can be VERY costly.

Slot Card Fan is probably your best, and safest bet. Its cheaper, but not as effective.

Go to the Cooling Section of the XPS Modification Install Page, for some ideas/brainstorming on cooling your PC. Hope this helps...

I was thinking of putting the Arctic silencer,but I don't know how to install it and also where to get it here in Spain.Is it easy to install or I need some practice? I ask this because I´ve never installed a fan,not even a case fan,and thinking of my x800xt crashed...scares me a bit as you may know.Thanks

That image of the PCI fan,is a vantec I think. I was thinking of putting it,but don't know if it'd better than putting a normal PCI fan,with the back open. What can you recommend me?? I was thinking also of putting the vantec and a normal pci fan, so I would put the vantec below the graphics and the other pci fan below the audigy,as this sound card is very hot too. Good idea or not? (take into account that I would have to put the vantec just below the ati...)

Experimenting is the only solution for your particular situation.

1. Move the Sound Card and V.Card as far away from each other as possible.

2. Enviroment/Ambient Air Controls

3.Experiment and Take Notes, Report finding for Similar Users'.

Someone else should have some tips that owns your particular PC.
