BIOS Upgrade
I have a Dimension L466cx and started upgrading BIOS from A14 to PO8 so I can upgrade my 466Mhz Celeron to a P3. An ERROR message said "An extended memory manager is already installed. XMS driver not installed." So I aborted setup cos I wasn't sure what to do.
What does this mean?
Would it be ok to proceed with installation of BIOS upgrade?

Before I try again, I thought I better have a search to find out what memory above 1M is. Plenty of articles talking about it but still none the wiser what it actually is.
Could you briefly explain what 1M is or point me to some info, thanks?
Also, just remembered my system currently says 2v. Alternative CPU's have different voltage. Am I correct that the CPU adjusts the voltage automatically to it's own requirements?

I doubt the BIOS program cares.
Regardless, your error message only said that you already had a memory extender and it wasn't going to allow a second to be run. Your boot disc is the problem.
