On the front of my dimension 3000 When i turn the power on all i get it a blinking orange light on the font of the tower. Nothing on the screen and its not booting up at all. Just a blinking Orange light. What doesn this mean and how do i fix it?

Check the sequence of the diagnostic lights on the back panel of the case.

The blinking amber LED of the power switch, usually indicates the motherboard is not receiving all the correct voltages from the PSU, check all the cables by unplugging and reseating them, if this fails to correct the problem, then the power supply appears to have failed, try a different power supply or replace it.

The D-3000 has an open back panel, most standard generic stock ATX PSU's, with or without the on/off switch and either a 20-pin or 20 + 4-pin main motherboard connector, can be installed. You can buy the unit from a local computer store or from any online vendor,

Bev.

This happened to my Dim 9100 for the first time yesterday. Was happily working away and without warning, it just turned off with the flashing amber power light on the front. Unplugged it for 5 mins and all appeared ok after that. I am still under warrenty but really dread calling Dell support and their Indian call centre after past experiences. I bet they will have me trying to re-install the op system and a load of other silly procedures before getting to the real problem.
