Bluetooth not working on Windows 8.1

if you update to windows 8.1 from windows 8 , it will have some problem, it is better to try the windows 8.1 Pro version, and you can download free windows 8.1 Pro on http://microsoftshare.blogspot.com/2013/10/windows-81-pro-free-download-direct.html

I am also having the same problem with my XPS 8700 (i7-4770, 8GB).  I had successfully upgraded to Windows 8.1, but afterwards I am no longer able to connect my Bose SoundLink mini BT speaker to the XPS 8700, even though it worked perfectly before on Windows 8.  I tried pairing many times and also reset my BT speaker, but to no avail.

By the way, jjeong32, where did you find that Bluetooth update for Windows 8.1?  Can you share the link?  Thanks.

Please share if you upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 Home or Windows 8 Pro. Ensure to install the latest windows updates for the system. To turn on automatic updating

• Open Windows Update by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), tapping or clicking Settings, tapping or clicking Change PC settings, and then tapping or clicking Update and recovery.
• Tap or click Choose how updates get installed.
• Under Important updates, choose the option that you want.
• Under Recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box, and then click Apply.

You may completely uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall it from the link provided by @jjeong32. Install the driver file first and then install the update package.

I upgraded from Windows 8 Home to Windows 8.1.  I also have all the Windows Update settings on automatic.

I tried downloading and installing the Update Package (second item in the download link).  I couldn't uninstall the old driver, so I went ahead and installed the Update Package over it.  After a restart, the Bluetooth seems to be working with my Bose speaker now.  I'll report back if something breaks.

I have an XPS 2710 now upgraded to Windows 8.1. As mentioned in another posting, after updating to Windows 8.1, the Bluetooth connection to my Bose Soundlink II Bluetooth external speaker no longer connects. I downloaded the Wireless/Bluetooth Dell update for my computer (on the Dell driver support page) , but it will not install: error log is that it is not supported for this OS. I am guessing that the Wireless/Bluetooth update is first checking for Windows 8, and when it receives back Windows 8.1, it stops the installation, fails to install.

Can Dell please fix the Wireless/Bluetooth update for my XPS 2710 so that it can install and update on my (now) Windows 8.1 x 64 OS?

Well, after using it for a day, I've noticed that sometimes my computer will freeze whilst I am playing music using my Bluetooth speaker.  The freezing is so bad that I can't even get the Task Manager to come up, unless I wait for a long time.

This doesn't happen when I am not using the BT speaker.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the Wireless drivers, but it still seems to be happening...

Wonder if your technical team can investigate?

The drivers for Windows 8.1 are now available on dell support website for most of the systems. Please share the screenshot of ‘Device Manager’ with ‘Network Adapters’ expended. You may follow the steps below:

• Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen.
• Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’.
• Click > sign next to ‘Network adapters’.

I downloaded and installed all of the latest Windows 8.1 drivers from the support page for the XPS 8700.

However, sometimes when I connect the Bluetooth speaker and play some music, the computer still freezes.  It doesn't seem to matter which program I am using.  The whole machine freezes (though continues playing music), and I can't even get the Ctrl-Alt-Del menu up.  After about half a minute, it wakes up and gives me the menu, but then freezes again until I shut off the BT speaker.  I'm very certain it has something to do with the BT driver.  This never happened before with Windows 8 and the same BT speaker.

Below is the screenshot of my Bluetooth and Network Adapters.  Hope you can help fix this issue, because it is very difficult to use the computer now.  Thanks.

After some searching of the Drivers page, I managed to find the A04 BIOS for the XPS 8700 (my machine was on A01).

So I upgraded it and will test it out, then report back later.

Well, after only half an hour of using it with BIOS updated and latest Windows 8.1 drivers, the computer still freezes sometimes during music playback using the BT speaker.  The mouse moves, but nothing responds.  Even when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del many times, I can't get the Task Manager or anything.  And when I shut off the BT speaker, the computer is still hung.  This is actually worse than before.

I think that I need to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 to fix this issue, because I suspect that the upgrade process has some problems.  Can you tell me how I can perform a clean install of Windows 8.1?

I would suggest you to uninstall the wireless drivers for Windows 8.1 and try to install the drivers for Windows 8 and check if that makes any difference.
