Can NOT update Rescue Disk

Question

I use Norton Antivirus 2000. 'Live Update' is programmed to update daily but can not update mi Rescue disk. I tried three times to update the Rescue Disk alone but twice a blue screen with moving white lines came on and froze my computer. I selected to format the floppy erasing every thing. Nope, it didn't work either but this time at least the computer was not frozen. A red alert said the program could not update Rescue Disk. What do I need to do? Thank you! While I switched to a 250 MB ZIP disk to work with, as far as Rescue Disk a while back, I've found that the best way to fix Rescue Disk problems in NAV 2000/Norton System Works 2000 is to just un and reinstall the program, then set up new Rescue Disks using newly formatted floppies. It's not a bad program when it works, but it does have a cranky moment or two, every now and then.

I have had problems with rescue disk in the past where for some reason an older version of rescue disk messed up the floppy disk making it useless as far as updating or creating a new rescue set. The only solution was to discard the floppy and use a new freshly formatted floppy disk.

Another option is to simply 'reset' Rescue. With luck, this will save you from a reinstall and the subsequent downloads of NAV 2000 updates.

Thanks for your advice. I was out of town that is why I didn't do this before. I followed Chuck's link with the instructions from Symantec to fix the Rescue Disk problem with the floppy and it worked. However, it could not copy some files but they don't seem to be a problem because the reboot worked just fine with the new set of disks. BUT Live Update could not update the Rescue Disk. I don't understand what is happening.
I don't want to uninstall and re-install Norton System Works 2001. Any suggestions?
