Cannot Boot or Find Any Bootable Disks
Dimension 8200
Windows XP Pro
Very strange issue here. In the middle of running Norton SpeedDisk (for the hundredth time), the machine suddenly blue-screened with a stop error involving INPAGE. Never seen that one before. Attempted to hard reboot, and now it looks like none of the disks can be found. Windows never comes up, and a Retry Boot message comes up instead. In the BIOS, all of the disks come up as UNAVAILABLE, and inside the boot sequence, the Primary HD and CD ROM all come up as NOT INSTALLED. Only the diskette drive does not have this message. I have attempted to boot to the Dimension XP startup disk, and it is never read.
If I have to reload the system , that is not a big deal to me. What is a big deal, however, is the fact that I cannot get the machine to recognize any drives, including the CD.
Any ideas on recovery or repair?

In the Bios setup press ALT & F ( this will restore to factory settings ) reboot and see if that works.
If no go then unplug the system, remove the motherboard cell battery. power on, wait for it to say 'Lost Date/Time'. Power off, unplug and place the battery back onto the board. Go into setups and see if that works
If still no go then unplug the system, unplug the Hard drive IDE cable, power up go back into setups and see if it see the CD rom alone. Do this for each device in the system (dvd, CDRW etc) it may be that one device has become faulty and is blowing the other.
A trick that may work is to ensure that there are no bent pins on any of the IDE interfaces ( motherboard and devices ) then blow into the IDE connector ... there may be a small bit of dust in one.
Also try obtaining the latest BIOS version from the dell website and installing that ... but do all the above first.
If none of this works then you may be talking about a faulty motherboard / Devices.
