Does it only happen on a certain web site? If that is the case, the coding within the site may be closing your browser window. This may be by design on some pages.
Otherwise, this is abnormal behavior for Internet Explorer. You may need to run an excess software removal tool on your system such as
AdAware or
SpyBot. Also, ensure that your antivirus software has been fully updates with the latest virus definitions, and perform a complete system scan.
No, it happens on various sites. Yesterday I ran a virus scan with Mcafee and found some areas that I had to quaratine and other that I deleted. I don't know if this will help, but I haven't had the problem since. I did lose all my Bookmarks though.
