Computer cant start.
Hey all, I have a dimension 3000 windows XP home edition. When I try to start my computer(this happens EVERY time), my computer stops at a black screen. (not sure if its frozen or what). This happens AFTER it says DELL big on the screen, but BEFORE it would says WINDOWS XP home edition. A lot of people have told me to go into safe mode. But I CANNOT go into safe mode. It freezes before that. Were thinking of getting geeksquad from bestbuy to come look at it, but that costs like 350$$ :(. Is there anything I can do before I pay geek squad? Thanks in advance!
And by the way, im posting this on someone elses computer.

I assume you have no warranty from Dell and that is why you are looking at Geek Squad?
Do you have Dell's recovery CD that would have been shipped with your computer?
That CD has a repair tool on it.
Since it won't go into safe mode, my guess is that you need to reinstall windows, or at least repair it.

It's the Dell XP Reinstallation disc.
If your computer was shipped after 7.16.04, you should have the Dell's PC Restore by Symantec utility on the hard drive, that restores the system to factory condition, see here.
Note: When you use the above all tha data files will be deleted.
