Computer Woun't Turn ON ..........
Hello everyone,
I have a DELL INSPIRON 530 desktop(about 3yrs old) ....... motherboard - Foxconn G33M02 ..... It was working fine till yesterday but after having cleaned the system for dust n all ..... I again powered the system and it just woun't start i.e. even after pressing the power button (on the front side of the system) ,nothing happens i mean no fans moving, no light of any kind, no nothing .Although the green LED under the power cable connector turns green(on the back side,just below the power cable connector) after having attached the power cable to it .For having a look inside i opened the cabinet and found that the orange LED is light up almost on the top right corner of the motherboard but nothing happens while i press the power button ....... and i'm fearing that the motherboard has gone out of order .......
in order to troubleshoot the problem, i jumped the green and black cable ports of the PSU and the fan started moving ....... so i'm supposing that the PSU is working fine.
I'm also wanting to know how to check the motherboard and if so the individual capacitors and resistors on it .......... and if just in case i'm unable to resolve the issue what options do i have in terms motherboard(which is similar in architecture to my original motherboard) as dell is charging me a lot more than the price of a new motherboard ..........
so,kindly also suggest me a new motherboard of similar capacity i.e. no. of SATA ports,IDE ports,RAM slots,etc. which i can buy from a local vendor ...................
My current system configuration are as follows :-
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160
Foxconn G33M02 motherboard
300 Watts PSU/SMPS
DVD RW+/-
Bluetooth module with 13 in 1 card reader
firewire 1394
TV tuner card
Intel's onboard LAN
HDD 160 GB ........
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated ...........

Thnxxx to everyone for their useful replies ..............
and yeah the good news is that my system has started working perfectly again .........
it all happened while i removed everything off my computer except the motherboard and processor and troubleshooted the Power ON/OFF switch ..... n there i was there was a loose/faulty connection at the terminal of the ON/OFF switch connection .........
So,while i pressed the port quiet hard and powered the ON/OFF switch, the computer started and there and then my problem got solved .......... although i had previously also reseated the On/OFF switch port earlier but i don't know still may be there was some error earlier ........

When is the last time you changed the CMOS battery? Being three years old it's possible it's dead if you've never changed it. It's a CR2032 and can be found at any drug store or Walmart. The instructions for replacing the battery is HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>.

Just thought I suggest that since you hadn't mentioned it. Anyway, if you want a new motherboard from a local shop you'll also need a new case and new copy of Windows. The Dell case has preprietary rear panel ports and front panel I/O connections. And the Dell Windows disk is an OEM disk so it's tied to the Dell motherboard.
Another option would be to order another Dell motherboard. You can get one from HERE.

Thnxxx for a quick responsive reply ..........
I have already tested my CMOS battery ... it's in good state according to the multimeter reading as well as i have changed the CMOS battery and tried ... but no use .
but,still just wanted to confirm if the systems CMOS battery is not working then the system woun't even start itself or what ........ ??

Have you doublechecked all your connections. When doing things inside the case it's always possible that a connection has become dislodged, even slightly is enough to cause this condition. If you've testd the ps and it powers up then I truly suspect that it's a connection problem. If the MB was dead and you powered up the cpu fan and power supply should be coming on. Please check the connector for the front panel as I suspect that is where your problem is. Good Luck.

actually i fear that the link which you provided states for the residents of US and canada only .......... but I stay in India .... so i don't think it is possible to get the delievery in India ..... anyways thnxx a lot for the link ............ because i had not thought about the proprietary complications at all .......
and yeah i pointed the option of a new motherboard for just in case this current problem of mine doesn't get resolved ......

truly speaking sry but I didn't understand what you meant by this phrase - "If the MB was dead and you powered up the cpu fan and power supply should be coming on." because the Fan which i was refering too in my original post is the fan inside the PSU/SMPS unit and not the CPU fan ...... and that too only powers when i Jumped the Green wire with the Black one of the SMPS/PSU power connector in order to check it's state as guided by some online guides to ensure SMPS/PSU proper functioning .......
Otherwise while i press the ON/OFF Power button in front of the system literarily nothing happens i.e. no fan movement no nothing ..........
anyways thnxxx again for your input ...........
