CPU Fan rattling in E521?

Hi, I recently purchased a new E521 in October.
One thing I've noticed is that there's always rattling coming from the cpu fan, I've opened the case once, and when I touched the plastic around the fan, the rattling stopped. The rattling problem has actually stopped, except for when booting. Is this normal and ok?
Also, how would I clean out the fan? (it's gotten really dusty)

I would remove the fan and reinstall it. Canned air is the best for cleaning fans.

Use caution when poking around inside the tower. Make sure you properly discharge any static electricity from your hands prior to doing anything in the tower.
Ground yourself out, so to say.... by touching a metal part of the tower to discharge any static charge that you might have on your hands.

I just got an E521 of course since mine's 2 days old it probably has a different fan design then what the OP's has but as for rattling no that's not normal.  This one is very quiet even under a heavy load like playing a computer game like Max Payne 2.  3 cheers for Dual Core.

Oh and the problem showed up after a few days, so you might have it too.

Ok, I cleaned the fan, and reinstalled it. Everything is fine now. There probably was a loose screw or something.
Thanks for the help.:smileyhappy:

David how did you cleaned (reinstalled) the fan ? I've got the same problem with rattling sound coming from the case/cpu FAN. I thought I better take a look at it by myself befor sending the whole thing in, but I wasnt able to reach the fan because its covered by some huge black "DELL" chassis. I removed the screws on each side but its still fixed somehow. Are there any manuals/documentary on this issue ?

Thanks in advance.
