CPU won't turn on
This morning while checking email, a blue error screen popped up and indicated that windows had performed an emergency shutdown of the system. I failed to write down the error code, since it told me to restart the computer if that was the first time that I had seen that screen. So I did, and now the computer won't restart at all. I have tried disconnecting the power, pressing the switch, holding it in for 10 seconds, etc. but nothing seems to work.
The error screen said something about a memory dump complete.
Any suggestions???

Further, none of the LED's will light at all, either front switch or the diagnostic LED's on back of case.
Is this motherboard or power supply? Sounds like the 4600's are notorious for bad power supplies. Mine is 2 years old this month.

Dear Wendy,
After reading many of the postings with similar problems, I ran out and bought a power supply today from a local computer service shop. It took all of 30 minutes to install in the 4600 that I have. Got done, and it powered right up. Cost was about $50. Don't know how good the power supply is--in other postings, it was recommended to buy a "name brand" PS, I think with names such as Enermax, Antec, Fortron, and Sparkle. This one is rated at 450 watts, which is more than the original 250w.
Anyway, if you are handy with a couple of small tools, give it a go before buying a new one.
