Creative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 Speaker System problem

I've got a Dell 8400 MCE with a Sound Blaster Audigy card and a Creative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 speaker system.  Recently, one of the speaker channels appears to have failed.  At least I believe the problem is in the speaker system since I can plug headphones into my sound card and clearly hear both channels.  Also, I can swap the plugs (left or right channel jacks) in the subwoofer and sound will play clearly from either the left or right speaker, depending on which jack I'm plugged into.  The other channel, however, will be making a muted pffftzing sound.  Any ideas of what's wrong and if it can be fixed, or should I be looking at purchasing new speakers?

wolfkin1,

* Click Start- All Programs- Creative- Audio Console
* Click the Restore Defaults tab
* Click the Restore Defaults button

If the speakers still act up, they might be bad.

I tried what you suggested -- no change.  It's strange, because the speakers themselves seem fine.  When I reverse the way the speakers are plugged into the subwoofer, one speaker always plays fine, but the other is mute.  In other words, by reversing the wiring, each speaker plays clearly, but only one plays at a time.
