D Drive

Whenever I use my Norton utility to scan it says D drive is being blocked by an utility, but no utility is specified. How do I correct this problem and how do I find what utility is blocking? Any help is appreciated.

What is your D: drive? Is it a hard disk partition, a second hard drive, or your CD-ROM drive? Which version of Windows are you running?

I have no idea. I have an Inspiron 3500 w/CD Rom and Floppy drive which I must switch. Not a second hard drive, that much I am sure. I am running W98.

Steve,
Thanks, it makes sense. Would you be opposed to send me your email address so that we can chat directly if I should run into other problems? Mine is RayQ1951@aol.com All this technology is new to me and I am really trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks again.

If it you don't have a second hard drive and you have not partitioned your hard drive to make two hard drives, then your D drive is likely your CD-ROM drive. Normally you don't scan a CD-ROM drive because it is non writable and any errors on it cannot be fixed by the scanning utility.

Hey Ray,

You can ask them anything you need.
Lots of here still use them all the time. And it's a very good way to learn too.
