deleting trash
I have deleted many things, especially photos and files. I assume they go into some type of a 'trash bin'. If they are in a trash bin, should I be going into the trash bin and permanently deleting these items? I have never gone into my trash and am uncertain how trash works. When I click 'delete' for a file, photo, etc. what happens? Does it go into a trash, but still is taking up space? Should I be doing something after I delete something? I am having slow performance issues and am trying to get everything cleaned up and out of my computer that I do not need! How do I permanently delete in order to get rid of items that I assume are taking up space and slowing my performance? Thanks!

Hi Rmdl,
This really isn't a question for the hardware forums, but the answer is pretty easy. Most versions of Windows (not sure which you have since you didn't mention it) have a recycle bin on the desktop. Files that you delete are stored there. To empty it, right click the recycle bin and select empty.
There are two other things you can do to speed up your system. The most important is to defragment your drive regularly. If you need instructions, a simple search will find you plenty. Another recommendation is to use a registry cleaner called CCleaner, which can also delete temporary internet files and unneeded registry entries.
