While you're editing, add some more info about what you want to do. You cannot repair Windows with the Resources disk. You must use the disk for the Reinstallation of Windows Xp. Boot to that disk and select Repair.
I aam trying to start the computer but at the log on screen the mosue is forzen so I am unable to pass the log on screen and it is frozen. So I am trying to repair the xp.
To repair XP, you will need the Dell XP reinstallation disc.
If you are the registered owner, a disc containing the factory-installed operating system specific to your system can be ordered from HERE.
Without the reinstallation disc, providing the factory installed hard drive has not been replaced, you could use Dell's PC Restore by Symantec utility, this restores the computer to it's FACTORY SETTINGS.

See HERE
After a Repair-Reinstall, you will need to reinstall the Microsoft Critical Updates, plus any other updates you require.

Have you tried using System Restore to a date before the problem started?
