Dell Dimension E520 not working
Hello,
My computer stopped working all of a sudden whilst surfing the internet. Everytime I boot up I get a message saying 'floppy diskette seek failure strike the F1 key to continue,F2 to run setup utility'.Then I get a message saying ' windows is starting', then the screen freezes with the windows logo.
I have tried installing the OS Recovery CD but each time I get a message saying ' windows is loading files...', ' windows is starting',then the screen freezes.
I have also tried pressing F8 and clicking on ' Repair your computer' from the 'Advance boot option',but I keep getting a message saying 'windows is loading files' 'Microsoft Corporation', then the screen goes blank.
Any help would be much appreciated

Did you not read my info in your other post about entering the BIOS (F2 Setup) and disabling the Floppy Diskette if you do not have one and also about the possibility the BIOS backup battery is defective? And the suggestions from the other user that posted?

Hello Fireberd,
Thank you for your kind reply.
I would like to start by saying that somehow my PC started working again, however, my only concern is that instead of booting from the HD it boots from the ONBOARD OR FLOPPY DRIVE.
Everytime I boot my pc I get a message saying:-
Floppy diskette seek failure
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility.
When I press the F1 key Windows starts normally.
I have taken yours and JackShacks good advice and tried to disable the Floppy Drive and boot from the HD, but I am getting this message:-
NO BOOT DEVICE AVAILABLE - STRIKE F1 TO RETRY BOOT, F2 FOR SETUP UTILITY.
This is my current Boot Sequence Order:-
1.Onboard or USB Floppy Drive (Not Present)
2.Onboard SATA Hard Drive (Not Present)
3.WDC WD2500JS - 75NCB3
4.Onboard or USB CD - Rom Drive
I also ran a Diagnostics test and got the following results
HARD DRIVE
Confidence Test : FAIL
Device Quick Check : PASS
S.M.A.R.T. Long Self Test (WARNING- Baesd on settings, there are no tests to run. Check the interactive or quick check box and make sure at least one test is enabled)
S.M.A.R.T. Short Self Test : FAIL
Read Test Only : FAIL (STOPPED AFTER 20% OVERALL PROGRESS)
I could not do any further test because it kept on freezing.
I should be very grateful to you if you could help me with your expert advice.
Thank you.
