Dell OptiPlex 7040 (Skylake - Intel Bug) Hyper-Threading BIOS FIX?

Hello,

Does anyone know when Dell will put out the BIOS FIX for this machine? They already did for the 7050 and the 7440aio and similar models back in June/First Week but not the 7040s running 6th gen same processors?

According to the news, for 6th gen it should already be available from the oems, and for now, disable the hyper-threading in the bios but that makes it WORSE running at 0.87 etc. Needs updated for the 7040s.

Thanks!

The June BIOS updates for the 7050 and 7440AIO make no specific mention of the H-T issue. So do you know that H-T was already fixed for those models?

And if you read the article at ExtremeTech:

"For the record, while ExtremeTech believes Intel that these errata exist, we are not aware of any software programs affected by them and have not observed any issues with our Skylake or Kaby Lake testbeds. Our Core i7-7700K and Core i7-6700K both performed flawlessly when tested in our benchmark suites over the past six months."

The OptiPlex 7050 does in fact provide an update for the Processor and its listed under Enhancements for Update Intel Microcode.

The 7440aio also shows the Update Intel Microcode.

I called Dell today and got this escalated and I was told the engineers are actually right now working on getting another BIOS update out for the 7040 to update the microcode as well.

Sorry, that doesn't mean it fixes the H-T problem. It may just be a fix for Intel's AMT security vulnerability problem....

Actually that info is not correct. I have called and spoke with a Dell Rep who is higher ranked and informed me that a BIOS was coming for the 7040's and when it does it will show the Intel Microcode. The link I posted states that an update is available and for Dell they pushed them out via Bios update. As far as the Intel AMT goes, this is what "DELL" did to show that...
