Dell Outlet Question.

first choice for the outlet- previouslly ordered, but you usually will pay more than for a refurbished

i bought a notebook once from dell outlet , refurbished,, and was very satisfied...it looked new, and could not have been happier..

you can usually get better deals from the outlet.,,and they are in good working condition, have not heard of many complaints from dell outlet.

     Machines that go through the outlet are tested, and repaired if needed. new machines go down the assembly line, to the software lab, packaged and shipped, no test.

  I have bought tons of machines through the outlet and have yet to have a problem.

You get the same warranty as a new one regardless of "Previously Purchased - New" or "Refurbished".

My 410 (1 year) is a Previously Purchased - New and I also have an Inspiron 530s (5 months), Refurbished. So far, neither have had issues.

If thats the case then they better start checking them one on one until they get rid of these

problems customers are having with the computers right out of the box

Does anyone recommend buying a 720 from the outlet? The prices for the same model that I customize are almost Double, Brand new. Also do the outlet computers come with the same warranty as a new model? Or like a 90 day deal?

I have been buying outlet store systems for six years. I own a XPS 700/720 system, and a XPS 410 purchased from the store. I have brought other boxes, and recommend the store to family and friends.

Dell systems come with a one year warranty, and the monitors with 90 days.

I do not buy a refurbished monitor, but new with a three year warranty.

You should not feel uncomfortable buying an outlet system. They can be a good value for your tech dollars.

  I have purchased three 700's from the outlet. They qualified for the 700/720 upgrade program, so I got the 720 upgrade kits for them. I paid less than 1000 bucks apiece, did the upgrades, and have installed various components, and they rock. One has QX6850, 4gigs ram, raid 0, several backup disks, for less than 1800 bucks.....

     I would not hesitate. Great service, great products, same as new warranty, and BIG $$$ savings.

The XPS 720 is a great, stable, well built machine and the Dell Outlet is a great place to save a ton of money.

They have H2C versions they are selling that they do not say are H2C versions, but they are.  Here is the steps:

Look in the Dell Outlet for XPS 720 models.

Look at the on ones with an Extreme processor (such as a QX6700, QX6800, QX6850)

Look in the description to make sure the chassis is Black (Not Red)

Look (usally in the Software section) that it reads 'BIN + 3 Overclock'

When on the summary View, Click on the Detail View

If you see a Part Number YN123 then it is for sure a H2C model

I have bought 2 from the Dell Outlet that were not listed as H2C models that really were.  Last one I got was with dual 8800GTX video, 2 GB Corsair O/C Memory, X-Fi, 160GB Raptor, QX6700 for a super great price.

P.S. - Also, often the Corsair memory is not listed as Corsair memory, but rather just 800MHz Ram.  But same trick adding it to the cart and looking at the Detail view and looking for Part Number XK381

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying from Dell Outlet.

I have bought from them before, and never regretted my decision to purchase.

As many have already mentioned, you get the same warranty and support as buying new.

Don't be afraid to buy a scratch and dent either.  Ususally the dent or scratch is very minor, and always cosmetic only.  As has been said here, outlet machines are well tested which is not said for ordering new.

If you are worried about warranty, outlet machines qualify for a 3 year coverage which you can add in your cart when you place one of these in for ordering.

outlet monitors come with less of a warranty, but I do believe that you could extend the coverage there as well.

Just like any other electronic equipment there may be issues with performance out of the box, that is why you have warranty, and Dell will stand behind their products.

And yes, 720 is an awesome machine.

    Used to be the red one had the 1k power supply, and the black one had a 750, not sure thats true anymore though.

The Physics card isn't worth getting.

Bought well over a dozen computers from the Outlet over the last 5 years. They always work great and I've had no problems. I'd rather have a computer that cost less and is bench tested, wouldn't you? My new XPS 420 quad core is great!
