Good Morning.

Thank you for contacting the community.

When you say that the PC turns on, then off after a few seconds, do you mean the green light at the front of the system comes on, then goes off with the fans.  Also, after this happens, does the flea light (orange light on motherboard) stay on?

Can you answer and confirm the following questions please:

1.  Can you have a look at the front USB ports, are there any damage or bent pins at all.

2.  Do you have any other like for like systems that you can swap parts from.

3.  Does the power supply fan spin then go off when you power on.

4.  Would you be comfortable removing and installing parts.

5.  What country are you currently in, and what is your warranty status.

If you are comfortable removing parts, sometimes it would be best to strip the system back, and power on from there.  If the machine does not power on from there, we can safely say it would be a motherboard or power supply issue.  If it does power on, then we would put one part back into the machine one at a time, to identify what part could be causing the problem.

The service manual for the T7500:  http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/wsT7500/en/sm/parts.htm

Let me know how you feel about the above.  Also, let me know where you are based, so i can provide contact details for your local technical support if required.

Regards

Kevin

Thanks for your kind reply,

I should say, yes green light at the front of the system comes on, and then goes off with the fans. The flea light (orange light on motherboard) stay on after that.

For you questions:

1- There are no damages or bent pins at all

2- Unfortunately, no there isn’t any other  system like mine here for swapping parts.

3- Yes, Power supply fans spin then go off when I power on

4- There would be no problem removing and installing parts.

5-   I am in Dubai (trying to solve the problem myself)

Thanks for your time and considerations,

Best

Good Morning Samira

Do you see any diagnostic lights on the system at all. Are there any numbers lit up or flashing.  Do you here any beep codes, if so, what sequence.

If you are comfortable stripping the system back, what I would do is remove any add on cards / memory / Drives and generally strip the system back as close to the motherboard and PSU as possible.

Another thing to do 1st, is attempt to power on the system with the front I/O panel disconnected.  To do this, make sure the system has no power, disconnect the I/O panel and Cmos battery, and plug the power into the back of the system, and see if the machine powers on, this would rule out the I/O panel as the issue.

If you require contacting technical support in Dubai for additional assistance, contact: support.euro.dell.com/.../contact_tech_support_numbers

I hope this helps.

Regards

Kevin

Dear kevin,

Thank you very much for your support,

Actually there is link integrity light and drive activity light turn on "a second" and go off. For diagnostic lights;  No3 flashes once and No1 and 4 flash continuesly  to the shutdown point , No beep codes.

I have also watched the fans, they are all working for that " a second" and go off as the lights do.

I will go through the instructions, really appreciate it.

Best,

Samira.

Sorry to break in, but I'm having the exact same problem with one three new T5600 systems. Power supply has been replaced without effect.

Last friday With Dell support on the phone, the cause of the probleem seemed to be the front panel IO.

While having the Dell support employee on the phone, I disconnected the frontpanel IO connector from the motherboard and then powered the system on again. The system powered on without any problems.

Now, on mondaymorning, the system again would not power on, with frontpanel IO connector disconnected from the motherboard. The power supply goes on and off shortly letting the fans blow.

As I see it now, it can't be the frontpanel IO that causes these issues, can it?

Could you please inform me what other options are available to solve this annoying problem? The system is only 4 weeks old...

Regards,

Bas (from the Netherlands)

I have just removed the CMOS battery and tried to power up the system. The system powered up fine.

Now, with the battery reinstalled, the system doesn't power up at all... The green LED from the power supply will not light up, no fans blowing... What could be wrong?

OK, I'll have some coffee then and wait for the engineer to arrive...

A mechanic was already "ordered" by Dell techsupport to address the issue (which was defined to be an IO frontpanel problem). I'll wait for the mechanic to arrive and will mention the fact that the system won't power up even with the IO frontpanel disconnected from the MB.

Haven't tried to power on with both the cmos battery and IO panel disconnected. Could you specify what this would solve?

I'll give it a go and try it and will post the results here.

Thanks for your quick reply, Kevin! (the dutch techsupport should learn from this)

Actually my system is also a 3 month old one.

Thanks to Kevin and this site: "

, I have finally found the problem; it was a problem with a RAM/CPU module. It consists of  half memory and half CPU (24GB and 6 core). By disconnecting this module finally my PC power up. I think I should investigate the problem on this module to recover my full Spec PC!

Good Morning Bas

Thank you for contacting the community.

Strange that the I/O panel has been identified as the issue, then a secondary fault occurs.  If your system is only 4 weeks old, then it will still be well within the warranty. Wasn't a part sent for replacement after the 1st problem was pinpointed?

If you had called Tech support recently, the best advice I can give is to call them back as soon as possible, as they will still have a case opened for you in the Netherlands, and advise them exactly what is not happening.

Again, very strange that 2 issues may be causing this.  Have you attempted to power on with both the Cmos battery and I/O panel disconnected?

Regards

Kevin

Hi Bas

This would point to the I/O panel as the fault. The engineer who is coming out should replace this and make sure there are no secondary faults with your system.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bas

Sorry to hear that.  Can you private message me your service tag through the forum please.  I will have a look at your case and see what I can do in regards to this problem.

No engineer today. Dell Tech Support made a mistake and booked the engineer for October 16th instead of 15th.

I'm very disappointed with the Dutch Tech Support. I'm struggling with this brand new T5600 system for three weeks now and I've lost many hours of productivity... This might be the last Dell purchase...

Experiencing the same problem.  New T5600 will not power up.  The power supply powers on as soon as the power cable is pugged in but then dies seconds later.  The front LED panel displays the numbers 3 and 4 in amber before dying at which point pressing the front power switch (no led) does nothing.  The hard power switch near the back only powers on the computer a fraction of the time (still suddenly powers off).  Stripped out the boards, hard drives, memory, but still doesn't work.

added note: There were a few successful boots while trouble shooting but the computer failed on all subsequent boots with the same hardware configuration.  This seems to be a intermittent yet frequent problem.

Did you ever fix the problem?  I am experiencing the same symptoms.
