Dell Precision T6300

I have a Dell Precision T6300 with a Perc H310 Raid Controller installed.

I have re-imaged the PC with a 64bit Windows 7 Image.

Since the re-image the PC when it is trying to load the operating system a message keeps coming up:

Setup is prepairing your computer for first use.

Windows could not complete the installtion.  To install Windows on this computer, restart the installtion.

I've run the diagonistics and it states there is no hard drive, but prior to the re-image there was no problem with the hard drive.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Driver for PERC H310 (must be run to extract files before use - use 'hard drive' version):
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/precision-t3600?driverId=0TM0H&osCode=W764&fileId=3177051617&languageCode=en&categoryId=SG

There is no 'F6' on Windows Vista and newer ... when booting to the Windows DVD, when it says no hard drives are found, you need to click on the Load Driver link in the lower-left corner of the screen to load the drivers from USB/CD/etc.

If your backup/imaging software supports adding a driver for restoring to dissimilar hardware, you can use the driver listed above; if it supports a WinPE environment, you can use these drivers:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/precision-t3600?driverId=R0GHH&osCode=W764&fileId=3301039111&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM

NOTE:  You will also need to configure RAID in CTRL-R BEFORE installing or restoring.  The H310 also supports non-RAID and it is not compatible with RAID, so if you install without configuring RAID first, then you will have to reinstall in RAID mode.

I'm assuming you have put an image on it created from a different system.  You need to add drivers for the PERC H310 controller - Windows 7 does not have these drivers built-in.  Your backup/imaging software may have a way to do this, or you may need to add the drivers a different way.

You need the 'hard drive' version (run to extract before using):

Hi,

probably you mean Dell Precision T3600... anyway, if you don't use RAID functionality, you can simply bypass the PERC controller, connecting the SATA drive directly to the mainboard.

Yes, you could ... if you didn't want RAID.  The H310 is NOT a high-performance RAID controller, but I assume it was ordered with it for a reason.

Yes, it was ordered because it's got two hard drives.

So, if you have 2 HDDs you have 2 options:

1. If you use RAID functionality of the PERC controller, you should download the drivers for the controller and load them at the beginning of the installation process/when you choose the drive where to install Windows you'll have option as far as I remember something like Press F6 to load drivers/.

2. If you do not use RAID functionality, just remove the controller from box and connect both drives to SATA port 1 and SATA port 2.

Thanks for the replies everyone, it was the updated driver that was required.
