What is the deal with that box anyway?

Gateway uses Athlon or Intel CPU,s. Dell supports Intel only. Both use cheesy parts, but Dell service has been terrible lately. I think AMD CPU's are way better than Intel's PIII or PIV. Be sure to get board that supports DDR ram, not slower and much more expensive RDRAM. 8100 model is a flop according to many owners. I have 4100, which is fine. <4100/20/384/32mbGFIIGTS/cable/98lite/P991>

What is up with Gateway lately??? Have you seen their website??? Options are so limited... Anyway, I would buy from a company that offers the cheapest price for the same combination...Gateway's onsite support is nonexistent (they tell you to bring the PC to the nearest Gateway Country strore)...Dell, on the other hand, if you know how to talk to them, they'll send a technician to your house the next day...As for Intel vs AMD debate, if you are a gamer or multimedia maven then get a P4 based system (also P4 is a whole lot better multitasking processor than any other consumer level processor available) If you really are serious about getting P4 I would wait until Intel releases Northwood (summer/fall 2001)...Dell 8100 is not a flop, WINDOWS ME IS; if you gonna buy Dell Dimension 8100, please save your self the trouble and get it with Windows 2000... Windows ME and Dell Dimension 8100 really hate each other; hell, I also hate Windows ME...As for DDR vs RDRAM debate, there really isn't that much of a difference in price (except for the 1.5GHZ P4)...RDRAM is slightly more expensive but it is also faster than DDR RAM...

Actually, I have seen a barn in Vermont painted with cow spots! Generally speaking, though, they look better on the occupants, or on Ben & Jerry's trucks.
