Dell Watercooling and EPP memory

Question

Question for you guys. Would it be possible to use an external liquid cooling setup on the 720. Say like the Zalman Resarator XT? The power consumption is less than 10 watts and you could use one of the extra optical bay power dongles. Also I can get 2 gigs of corsair 8500 to run at 1066 but when I go to 4 gigs, I get a BSOD ' IRQ_not less_or equal'. I have all the patches and everything implemented for that. Just wondering if you guys had any opinions.      Thank you ,  Jimmy

* Possible, yes. But we have never tested it.

* Back the 4GB to 800Mhz. Does it still BSOD?

Chris, thanks for responding. No it runs fine at 800mhz. Is this something that can be fixed with a bios update or is it just a problem with the EPP memory.     Thanks Jimmy

Jimmy, Have you disabled the Spream Spectrums in ntune?  Check out this post by Tphillips if you have any questions.  http://forums.rampantspeculation.com/viewtopic.php?t=5 Feel free to PM me.  I have helped MANY XPS guys get this working.  Also, are you running XP or Vista?  There is a hotfix for 4GBs with Vista.

Pointguard thanks for the response, I've tried just about every hotfix out there. I Beleive I've read tphillips post before but i'll check it out again. I've  have disabled Spread Spectrums and my OS is Vista 64x

You may want to do some reading of the Corsair forums. According to the top dog over there, it is not recommended to run 4Gb at 1066. I had the same ram in mine with the same results, ran fine at 800MHz, but would blue screen at 1066MHz. I believe mine was running a little hot when running at 1066 because I picked up the Corsair fan that mounts on the ram and can now run at 1066 without problems.

jimmy, is this the memory you are using?   OCZ2N1066SR2GK   I have 4 gigs of this in two 720's, and it runs fine @ 1066. have you checked your memory for a bad stick?

Laser, I can't even full load windows. I bluescreen every time before windows completely loads. Do you think this is a heat problem. gdwrnch the memory I'm using is Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D x2 . I've ran 4 complete passes with Memtest and no errors whatsoever.           Jimmy
