Dell's Optical USB Mouse M-UVDEL1 - problems??

Hi.

Got a new Dell Dimension 4600 and upgraded to Dell's optical mouse, Model# M-UVDEL1.

Bad mistake!!!

(Invoice) D1161 KIT, MOUSE, UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS, 2BTN, WHEEL, OPTICAL, PRIMAX ELECTRONICS LTD
(Dell website) DELL Optical USB 2-Button Wheel Mouse for Dell Systems
Manufacturer Part# U0636 , Dell Part# 310-4073, Model # M-UVDEL1
Dell Optical USB Mouse [add $10 or $1/month1]
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?TabPage=overview&sku=310-4073&c=us&l=en&cs=04&page=external

This darn optical USB mouse uses the WinXP generic mouse driver and the mouse arrow seems to drift and move erractically. Logitech used to make the mice for Dell but it appears that Dell got greedy and cheap and went to Primax Elec. LTD for their mice now. Unforturately, NO mouse drivers are available.

Logitech mouse drivers will NOT work with above model as I've tried many different Logitech USB optical mouse drivers, all recent, and none works!!!

I found some Older Dell Logitech mice available on eBay. It appears that the Logitech Optical mouse drivers should work as Dell does NOT provide any mouse drivers from what I read in these forums.

Has anyone experienced any problems with their Dell Optical USB mouse, M-UVDEL1?

I gave up on it, shelved it (wasted the $10 upgrade fee!!!!) and used my older Logitech ball wheel mouse. People should stick with the basic Dell 2-button Scroll Mouse when ordering any new Dell computers. Buy the mouse at a store!

NEVER will I buy a mouse upgrade from Dell ever again!!!!

Any comments are appreciated!

Hope DELL support is reading this!!! GET RID OF THE NEW USB OPTICAL MOUSE AND BRING BACK THE LOGITECH VERSION INCLUDING LOGITECH MOUSE DRIVERS!!!!

Thank you!

Hi mchan1

i agree with the mouse, but she looks similar to a keytronic mouse
No wonder DELL has no driver, keytronics doesnt have any :/
I have the MX700 and MX1000 Logitech mice, they are very good.
The DELL mouse came for free with my DELL 8400 two weeks ago.

DELL 3D OPTICAL MOUSE PROBLEMS  I bought a Dell 3D Optical Mouse in a Gaisano department store near Cebu, Philippines. It looks exactly like two others with different names and the young men behind the counter say they're all made in the same factory. The wire is too short! The pointer behaves irratically, and the wheel rolls a page down a short way and then the page jumps to where you were. The Only way down the page is using the elevator bar or pointers at top or bottom of the elevator bar. I looked for a driver on line to correct the issue but do not find anything.  <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>
