Desktop menu disappeared.
When I rebooted my PC everything disappeared. (Desktop icons, start menu botton and bottom task bar) I want to do a system restore to fix it but the start menu is gone and pressing the start menu button is not doing anything. Can someone tell me which folder I can find it in(the restore points or the start menu button)? (I have windows XP running) The only way i have acess to anything is to press Alt+Ctrl+Del and using the new task botton to point to a program to open.

The best chance you have to recover is to begin tapping the F8 key when the system starts and choosing "Last known good configuration" from the menu that appears. If that fails, you may have to do a repair reinstall of Windows XP.

Try running \Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe.
