dimension 8200 boot from USB device?
Is there some way I can get the dimension 8200 to boot from a USB mass storage device? I tried changing settings in the BIOS, but couldn't get it to work. Does the dimension 8200 not support booting from USB? woops this is wrong forum. should probably be in BIOS... I didn't see the Navigation thing on left side before, lol. I just saw the 3 topics where it shows popular threads.

To boot from the flash drive, first you have to make a bootable flash drive. That is harder than it sounds. You need to get a program that will make it bootable (there is one from HP, I think, that you can download).
After that it is easy. Just plug it in and boot. Press F12. If everything is going right, the USB device will be listed in the boot options (it doesn't show unless it is bootable).
Select it and boot from it. Sure beats floppies and CDs. Very fast and read/write!
