Dimension Bios A08 Failure

Look at the back of the computer for the 4 diagnostic lights and see if they give you a clue to what the problem is.  See the following document:

Now that you have at least a clue on what the problem may be, you might want to move your question over to the Dimension - General Hardware forum where there is a lot more traffic. The code seems to indicate a failure on the motherboard.   In answer to your question about whether such a failure can occur after the power is off for two weeks, the general answer is that a failure can occur any time.

That code sayed: IDE bus failure has occurred.

What does did mean and can it occure after the power was of for two weeks?? Because that is the only thing that happend with the computer. I checked the ide cables but they are all connected firmly.

I am 3 months out of waranty so any help would be greatfull. Is there a change that is is something that can be fixed or is an ide bus failure a hardware problem on the motherboard??

If the diagnostic beep and light codes give no clear indication of what the problem maybe then try replacing the motherboard battery.  Since the machine sat with the power off for a while it is possible that the battery has failed.

After disconnecting all the modules, conectors and memory modules from the motherboard and reconnect them again, everything works again like its used to work

Strange that such a error could apear suddenly???
