Dimension E310:Floppy diskette seek failure

Question

Any help would be great on how to fix this problem. When I start up a black screen comes up and says floppy diskette failure F1 or F2 to go to set up. I don't know what to do.When I go to set up it says floppy disk not present.

I have the same problem. My box has no floppy. Pressing F1 allows the system to boot. When I get an answer, I will share kwm DIM XPS 400 xp sp2 Soundlaster audigy 2zs

press f2 to go to setup. Use the down arrow to highlight "drives" and press enter. down arrow to "diskette drive". press enter. Look on the top of the box on the right side. Use the left or right arrows to highlight "off", Press enter. Press Esc (top left) on the keyboard. Use the right arrow key to highlight "save and exit", press enter. System will reboot and error should be gone.

Have you checked if the drive is merely unplugged or loose?
Push in the cable a little tighter.

If you never use the floppy, you can just disable it in the setup as described by
Kracker420 .

I have an E310 Dell and I was gettin the same thing when the machine booted up I had to chose F1- and I have no floppy drive. Go in to the bio and go to Drives: Diskette Drive: then shut off the floppy You also have to change it in the boot up sequence to not make it boot to the floppy it works and no more having to hit F1
