Dimension e510 will not boot. Error 0F00:136C

What does this mean? Is it fixable? Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to run the Dell Diagnostics when this issue appears? Did you change the Boot Order in the Bios?

Yes, I ran dell diagnostics from the disc to get this error code. I later ran a test from the system tree for the "'cannot boot OS' and all systems passed. Thanks.

What should I change the boot order to?

The boot order should list your hard disk drive first. But that doesn't explain the error.

The boot order has the hard drive listed first, but the computer will not boot. The problem started suddenly. On a restart, the computer was stuck in a "loop" in the boot process, coming back to the Dell screen over and over. I cannot get to safe mode or restart in the last good configuration. Since then. whenever I have tried to power off and then turn it back on, I get the amber lights on the start button and it is very difficult to get it to turn on. I have the diagnostic and the reinstall discs. I ran the diagnostic tests as detailed above. I have not proceeded beyond that. What do you think my problem is and what is my next step to try to fix it? Thanks for your help.

* Restart the PC, at the Dell splash screen press the Ctrl - Alt - D keys to initiate the hard disk drive diagnostic
* The test may take up to three minutes to run the diagnostics (the time is dependent upon size and speed of drive)
* What are the results?

I ran the hard disk drive dianostic test. The results were: Drive 0: Samsung HD 160JJ/P - Pass

There is no second HD and two DVD drives.

My computer still will not boot. It's still stuck in the same loop coming back to the Dell screen over and over.

What is my next step? Thanks!

Make sure there are no CDs in the drives. Reset The Bios to Factory Defaults.

I reset the Bios according to the directions. Now I get a message "floppy diskette seek failure". I turned off the diskette drive and took the floppy drive out of the Bios boot sequence. The computer still will not boot. It is still stuck in the same loop. What is my next step? Thanks for your help.

Possibly a defective power supply.

Did you try resetting the Bios to defaults?
