Dimension E520 Wont Power On

Question

Hi, I have got a brand new E520 and it won't switch on. I have swapped the power supply, changed RAM and HDD but no go. Motherboard has a small light which turns on when u plug the power cable. But nothing happens when you press the power up button. Please help.

Sounds like you need to contact Dell for a replacement. You shouldn't have to do so much debug on a brand new system.

However, if you want to continue, what do the power light and the diagnostic lights (1-2-3-4) indicate?

The E520 Diag Lights are on the front panel between the headphone jack and the two usb ports. Was the computer being sold 'new' at the auction?

You might check the wires connecting the front panel power button to the motherboard.
