Dimension E521 PCIe and SATA Versions
How do I find out if the PCIe bus on the E521 is V1.x or V2.0? On the "Specification" section of the User Manual, it says that it is PCIe V1.0A. However, it claims a maximum speed of 500MB/s for x1 slot. This does not seem to make sense. Only V2.0 PCIe could achieve that speed.
On the SATA part, the User Manual states it is SATA 1.0 and 2.0. What does this mean?
Thanks.

Hi dlin95123,
Dimension E521 has PCI Express slots of version 1.0A. The single directional speed of the x1 port is 250 MB/s and as the port is bi-directional, the speed supported is 500 MB/s.
The system supports SATA 1.0 ( 1.5 Gbps) and SATA 2.0 (3.0 Gbps) storage devices via the SATA ports.
Please let me know if you need further information.

Hi Rajath,
I connect a Solid State Drive with SATA 3 interface to the Dimension E521 and can only achieve around 90 MB/s. So I think the computer is using the SATA 1.0 to talk to the SSD with SATA 3.0 interface. It is very slow.
Is there a way to check what speed is the SATA interface running at? Additionally, is there a way to set it at SATA 2.0 instead of SATA 1.0 when I connect it to a SATA 3.0 device?
Thanks.
