Does Precision T3400 support s775 quad-core Xeons?
I have a T3400 (525w PS) which originally came with a C2D E4600, and was previously upgraded to a C2D E7300. Now I'd like to upgrade to a quad core. As many of the C2Q's are getting scarce, I looked at socket 775 Xeons as well. The price difference between the C2Q and equivalent Xeon is practically nil these days, so I'm wondering if the T3400 bios supports the Xeons? It appears that Dell never offered Xeons in the T3400, although the X38 chipset itself is capable of supporting Xeons on other boards.
Does anyone know of the Dell T3400 bios support Xeons? I'm running the latest, A09. The T3400 is one of my digital audio workstations and it's an incredibly stable and reliable machine, so I'd like to extend it's life a bit with this upgrade. If Xeons are not known to work I'll probably go with a normal or low-power C2Q.
TIA
