Don't know what it is called

Last week I requested help and Pam I thank you for your time, but it didn't help and I contacted Dell. They told me to go into safe mode, delete my monitor and display adapter drivers. I did that and rebooted. It still didn't help and I still can't get my 256color back. On my display properties all I can get is 640X480 16 color. On my display property settings all I can get is 640x480pixels. What do I do now to get them back. My games can't run because I need 256 to run them. Any help would be appreciated. MamaB

Do I need to make a file in my documents for the Video drivers. I am so dense with all this.

You need to find your video drivers, on your resource cd. They will usually unzip to a folder called Dell/drivers. Then go to display properties and click on adapter and do update drivers. When asked for location of driver, then point it to the folder where the video driver was unzipped to. Good Luck.

No, when you unzip the driver from the resource cd, it will put inot the folder for you.

Cougarch...Thanks so much for your help. Now I would like to ask you one more favor. Could you give me step by step what and how to do it. I tried to fix something one time and ended up taking it to a computer store to get it fixed. Thanks so much from MamaB

Did you find the video driver on your resource cd? If so did you unzip it to the Dell folder? If you did that, then you can right click on your desktop. choose properties. Click on the settings tab.
Click on the Advanced button, then click the Adapter tab. Depending on what operating system you are running, you will have a button that says something along the lines of "update driver" Click that and then follow the instructions. When it asks where the update is then you have to point it to the Dell folder and the video driver that you put there earlier. Hope this helps.
