Downgrade to Win2000
We just purchased a new Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP Professional loaded on it and we found out our custom software will not run on XP - only Win2000 - is there any way we can downgrade our XP Pro to Win2000? Thank you

something that doesn't require money? no.
i think a clean install from a win2000 disc would do the trick (unless if xp won't allow the 2000 install to continue)
another way to get windows 2000 is using an emulator like virtual pc 2004 for windows or trying to make a dual-boot system (all these need a windows 2000 disc)

Windows XP Pro has an Application Compatibility Wizard - essentially what it does is make Windows XP look like another OS - such as Windows 2000, ME, etc.
HOW TO: Use Windows Program Compatibility Mode in Windows XP

I'd try that first before removing XP and putting on Win2K - Dell will ONLY support the Factory Installed OS - Windows XP Pro in your case.
