E521 Upgrades: GPU and PSU
Hello. I have a Dell E521 and I'm in the process of upgrading. Here's what I'm getting:
-
XFX HD-545X-CDH2 Radeon HD 5450 2GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16
-
COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-I3 460W ATX12V V2.31
Will this config work/suffice?
Thanks!

Yes, the power supply and video card, shown in your links, should work fine in the E521.

Thanks, Bev. Come to find out, the PSU doesn't fit correctly. The power cable plug is on the left, and the cutout on the case for the original PSU plug is on the right. So, the plug hits the case frame on the left side, not allowing it to rest flush and be mounted. Any suggestions for a 400+ watt PSU that will fit?

The Dimension e521 does support most standard ATX PSU's, with, or without the on/off switch.
Have you tried turning the Cooler Master PSU, 180*?

Yes, I tried turning it. The screw holes don't line up. One is offset. Plus the fan would be at the top of the PSU right against the case. Anywho... I did some digging, and found out that the power plug on the PSU has two ears to either side, while in the product picture, these ears aren't present. If the ears were not there, it would fit fine. For my fix, I just crammed it in there and screwed it down. The frame on the left where it hits the ear on the plug bows out some, and it doesn't look the greatest, but hey... it works. Thanks.
