Error Messages: Memory or Sound Card problem?
Hey fellas!
I'm hoping that somebody here can help me with a problem I have recently been having. I'm not sure if it's memory problem or a sound card problem. I have been getting different answers from different people.
I play some online games and one of the games uses a launchpad to get the game going. Upon clicking on the launchpad, I got this error when the game started up:
LAUNCHPAD caused an invalid page fault in
module unknown at 0000:7703abb8.

I did not think anything of it until after I left the game. Upon leaving the game, I got this error message:

I just got done reformatting a few ago and upon installing Software Cinemaster for my dvd drive, I got a "delis" or something similar error which read similar to the above errors. However, after installing Windows Media Player 9 Series, I got this error:
SETUP_WM caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7b9a6.

Now this did not all start until recently, when I upgraded my computer. I put in a new Buslink 52x32x52x CD-RW drive. I don't know if maybe I don't have the cables that connect to my sound card and the cd-rw/dvd drives connected right or what. I've been assuming it's my sound card because "EAX" is associated with my sound card. But like I stated above, some people have been telling me it's a memory error. If that's the case, is there a way to test out my memory to see if it's bad?
My computer Specs are as follows:
Dell Dimension XPS T450
Microsoft Windows 98 (4.10, Build 2222)
Intel Pentium III, ~450MHz
320MB of RAM
My sound card is a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1, model SB0100
If anybody can help me out and get this problem fixed, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Razak,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
You can test the system with the Dell Customer Diagnostics. Download the latest version of this program from the Dell download site accessible from the download tab at the top of this screen. This file contains the tests for memory, hard drive and most of the base components of the system.

Razak,
Try downloading the diagft32.exe file and make the single boot disk from this file and run the diagnostic on this disk to at least get a start.

Anyway, I downloaded a memory test I found. It ran 11 tests over an estimated of 14 hours. Nothing was reported irregular with my memory.
Also, I read in the Dell troubleshoot manual that I can obtain the Dell Diagnostics through my ResourceCD, but for some reason, my cd won't play (all other cds will though). Is there any way I can get a new ResourceCD for my specific type of computer?
Thanks
Razak
