FAN CONTROLS

Question

hey,

i've been looking lately at some 5.25 inch front panel controllers that allow me to change the fan speed, connect usb/firewire devices, and et cetera. would these word with my dell dim 3000? i have it as a spare comp in my room and the fans are absolutely outrageously loud, along with other wierd noises this computer makes. i know that my computer doesn't need to be running the fans at full speed at night, since all i keep running at nite is an orb server and aim.

the software fan controls haven't worked
(at least the ones i've tried) so i'm skeptical about buying one of these.

if i were you, i would not mess with the fan speeds, you have a pentium 4 3.20ghz. those can generate a lot of heat. You could get a fan in the pci slot to help lower the fan speed. If you manually control the fan, if possible, may lead to overheat. The dimension fans are temperature sensored controlled. Manual overide would be a poor decision.

the fa is already hardware controlled as in it will slow down/ speed up to conincide with cpu useage and also the dell fans use non standard connectors which will not fit a fan controller without splicing a cable and then you will end up with a fan error on boot up since no fan will be detected from the motherboard

aright, but those stats arent for the comp i'm talking about. its a p4 2.8 ghz

nope but i just have a regular pci coolder blows 32cfm

400mhz doesnt matter, it will still  make alot of heat.
