fan failure at bootup
So I just got me an inspirion 531 and when I boot it up nothing shows up on the monitor and after about 20 seconds my CPU fan stops, the heatsink on my processor keeps running, just not the CPU fan. Is that a problem with my motherboard?

A cable or connector, may have become loose, during shipping.
Open the case and check all the power and data cables are properly connected and are not loose, especially the power connectors to the fans.
Inspiron 531 manual.
If the above, does not correct the problem, then as this is a new system, contact Dell's Technical Support ASAP.

If a fan cable is not connected, this could cause the system to shut down.
While you have the case open, make certain the all the cards, drives and memory are installed correctly.

All the fans should run when the system is booted, epecially the case and processor fans.
