Hard Drive Controller Card Recomendations.
I have a Dell XPS Generation 1 I think. I wanted to add a third IDE hard-drive, yet I am not sure what I should purchase. It would be nice if it was compatible with Linux as well. RAID isn't important to me.

Promise seems to make a good product and is my personal preference for a contoller card, you can visit their website here.

Regarding hard drives, Maxtor, Western Digital and Seagate, all make excellent hard drives, personally I try to avoid Hitache "Deathstars". Buy one with 7200rpm and has a 8mb cache, instead of the 2mb, as it should be slightly faster.
One other point, the OEM HD is just the "bare" drive only, the " Boxed Retail Version" has the instructions, the cable and software included and remember to shop around for the best price.
