Help!!! I loaded the wrong firmware

Just got this Optiplex GX260 off Ebay, so I checked Samsung for any firmware updates for the DVD/CD-RW drive model SM-332B, there were. I did not realize that the Dell drives were specific only to Dell. Now not even my BIOS recognizes the drive but the disk tray does open and close. I have gotten the  correct BIOS from Dell but I can not get it to take. Any suggestion?

Thanks for any help.

There is a procedure for force flashing a Dell Bios from a floppy diskette, I have never tried it with Dell cdrom, or even know if there is a floppy version of the cdrom flash, just a thought. If it is a windows based flash utility, it will never work because it cannot find the drive to flash it. :smileysad:

"The standard procedure for installing a new bios won't install an older
version.  To do a "force flash" of an older version of the bios, do the
following:

(1) insert the floppy that is normally used to install an old version of the
    bios, and reboot the computer.

(2) It will claim to have installed the new version, but hasn't (which you
can verify by going into the BIOS and looking at the version number).
Type "dir" to see the list of files on the floppy.  One of the them is
bios installer, like "bios-name.exe".  Run this installer with the
    following option:

    bios-name /forcetype

and follow the instructions (this is what Dell support told me on the
phone).

Some random web pages also mention trying "bios-name /forceit /forcetype".
Another unknown option is "/jabil".

Thanks for the suggestions, but they did not work.  The best I can get is still with "-n" and that fails on step 17 still.
