Help! -- I've lost my multimedia audio controller and video controller
(I have a Dell Dimension 2350 and it's Windows XP, service pack 2, version 2002)
Hello,
I was trying to get my computer to work faster so I uninstalled various things that it said I don't use much. Like a fool, I cleaned out the recycle bin afterwards. When I restarted the computer I had no sound at all. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" was telling me it could help me install software for Video Controller, Video Controller (VGA compatible) and Multimedia Audio Controller. However, when I followed its instructions, including by inserting the CD's I got when I purchased the computer, it tells me "Hardware was not installed because the wizart cannot find the necessary software." When I go to System Properties -- Hardware, there are disconcerting yellow question marks next to Other Devices, and next to Multimedia Audio Controller, Video Controller, and Video Controller (VGA compatible)
A friend of mine said I could take out and then replace the video card.
Can anyone out there please tell me if that will work, and if not, what can I do?
Chris
