Help with message "AHCI Bios Not Installed"
For some dumb reason I accidentally switched the drive mode from "IDE" to "RAID" and since then immidiately switched it back to "IDE".
Since then everytime I boot my computer it shows the message
"AHCI Bios not installed!!"
I did LOTS of research and came up with little, I tried reinstalling the Intel Matrix Storage manager but it wouldn't let me because it "didn't meet system requirements".
I tried everything to get this annoying message to go away. Even temporarily changing it back to RAID mode, and the new boot up warning states "AHCI Bios installed!!". But the computer doesn't boot up.
The reason I'm posting to get help on this issue is because when I'm trying to install a fresh copy of Windows XP, the installation will not proceed.
Please help!
My comp: Dell Vostro 200
Intel core 2 duo

I'm not an owner of your model, but I would think as long as you are doing a clean install of XP you could use the AHCI setting for the SATA Mode in the BIOS. The Intel Matrix Storage driver will still have to be installed during the installation of Window XP, but you should be able to select the drive as operating as non-RAID disk. The AHCI setting will allow you to use some of the advance features of the SATA drive.

Sorry about that. The Vostro 200's on-line Service Manual is showing IDE; RAID & AHCI as settings for the SATA Mode option. Obviously a typo on Dell's part.
