If the same thing happens with the same games on two different system with different graphics adapters I would suspect the game rather than the computer. However, it is possible that there are too many things running in the background on your computer to allow the game to load properly.

You can get an idea of what things are loading on your maching at startup and what you might be able to eliminate if you go to the second link below my signature. It is also important to note that as your computer runs various applications the resources necessary to operate new ones are "captured" by the applications and not released when the application is stopped.

Trim down your startup list, then reboot your computer before you start the game and see if that helps. If not, post back and specify the names of the particular game(s) that are causing the problem. You will also probably get better response if you post that information in the Software/Windows 98 conference.
