Sorry, but no one is going to be able to help you without knowing the exact model number of your PC and whether you're using integrated audio or an add-in sound card. And if it's an add-in card (like SoundBlaster) include its model name too (SoundBlaster Live 24, Audigy...)
Sweet Face,
The number you sent by PM looks like a Dell Service Tag number, not the actual system model. I queried Dell's site assuming it is your Service Tag and it came back showing an OptiPlex GX150 system.
If that's what you have, post your problem with that model number on the Optiplex forum where people familiar with the model can help. This thread is on the Dimension forum and unlikely to be read by anyone experienced with Optiplex systems. The system corresponding to that Service Tag didn't have a sound card listed so you probably have integrated audio, but you need to look in XP's Device Manager for details about the audio hardware to be certain.
If you don't have an Optiplex, post your exact model number (such as Dimension 3000, Dimension 8400, etc) here. If it's a laptop, post on the appropriate laptop forum. If you post the model number (rather than send by PM) more people will see it and you're more likely to get the help you need.
you can look at the invoice and let us know what kind of sound card you have ,
integrated o the mobo or a pci sound card?
based on that we can proceed further
